Branding

dunscaith has its own identity under the phpboyscout banner, shared with its sibling scatha, the trainer to dunscaith's fortress. Both are cut in the same woodcut style and the same three colours, so they read as a pair.

The mark

A woodcut of the sea-fortress of Dùn Sgàthaich on its crag above the waves, under a crimson sun, cut in ink and bone inside a square frame. Dunscaith is named for the fortress on the Isle of Skye, and it does what a fortress does: it stands watch over the jobs it sends out.

Use the mark for avatars, social cards, document headers and anywhere the project needs a logo. It holds up as a 32-pixel avatar on light and dark surfaces alike.

The favicon

The fortress on its crag under the crimson sun, cut down to a few bold shapes so it still reads in a browser tab. Use it for the browser tab and nowhere a larger mark fits.

The knotwork alternate

The fortress on its crag, ringed by an interlaced Celtic knotwork roundel in slate blue, sea green and peat gold. It is a permitted alternative mark for large-format use: hero images, banners, posters, slides and print, where its detail has room. Do not use it as an avatar or favicon, because the knotwork turns to noise below about 96 pixels.

dunscaith knotwork alternate

It ships as raster only. Its colour variation is part of the design, and tracing it to vector loses it. On a dark surface, set it on a bone disc (the dark variant below does this) rather than straight on the background, where the slate blue and sea green sink.
